Following on from Cordell’s popular Portrait Painting workshops, this is an exciting painting workshop designed to help students understand colour mixing and design in portraiture using two limited colour palettes.
Students will be able to achieve realistic flesh tones and form through focusing on the key components of value, hue and chroma. Creating a portrait from a photograph, and following a step-by-step process, including setting out your mixing palette, Cordell’s workshop will provide advice and guidance on painting a portrait from a reference photograph.
The process will cover:
Using oil paints
Measuring and mapping out key features from the photograph
The importance of value, hue and chroma in creating portraits
Organisation of a limited colour palette and approach to painting
The colour palettes will be:
Zorn palette – White, Ivory Black, Yellow Ochre and Cadmium Red
Temperature palette – White, Ivory Black and Cadmium Orange
Cordell will provide painting demonstrations during the day and supporting handouts, as part of the workshop, to explain the techniques involved. Suitable for beginners and improvers, you will create a portrait that you will be able to take away with you at the end of the day.
The price varies depending on whether you are bringing your own materials or whether you wish the tutor to supply everything.
